Yevtushenkov Vladimir Petrovich is the founder of a leading public investment corporation. Created on the initiative of Vladimir Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema serves over 100 million consumers in the telecom, digital, healthcare, banking, and IT sectors.
The Group’s companies employ about 150,000 people. After almost 30 years on Sistema’s Board of Directors, Yevtushenkov is currently involved in social activities.
Yevtushenkov Vladimir Petrovich was born in 1948 in the village of Kamenschina, near Smolensk. His father and mother worked in animal husbandry at a local agricultural enterprise.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov went to school in the Smolensk Region and then continued his professional education.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov received his first degree in 1973 when he graduated from the Institute of Chemical Technology – the industry’s leading educational center. The entrepreneur is a qualified engineer-technologist.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov obtained a second specialization, this time in economics, from MSU in 1980. He later studied economics in graduate school, and in 2001, he was awarded a doctoral degree. He is particularly interested in innovation and industrial development strategy.
Career stages
Vladimir Yevtushenkov worked in industrial manufacturing from the early 1970s until 1987.
Vladimir Petrovich Yevtushenkov spent his first two years after graduating from the Institute of Chemical Technology at the Sverdlov Plant – a large chemical enterprise in the Nizhny Novgorod Region. He was hired as a production master and later promoted to being the head of one of the sites.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov moved to a plastic manufacturing company based in the capital region in 1975. Thanks to his innovative casting method, the Karacharov Plastics Plant (now Polimerbyt) managed to improve the technology of plastic product manufacturing.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov had risen through the ranks by the late 1980s, from a supervisory position over one shop to the deputy director of the whole of Polimerbyt.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema: Formation and development of an investment holding
In 1993, a new project was launched by a group of like-minded partners, including Vladimir Yevtushenkov – AFK Sistema. The company initially focused on communications and information technology but soon expanded its investment interests to trade, construction, tourism, real estate, and healthcare.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov contributed to the scaling of the AFK and its portfolio assets. At his recommendation, a partnership management model was implemented for the subsidiary businesses, which brought a number of assets to public capital markets. The holding is currently involved in about 20 different industries and market segments.
AFK Sistema is active in the digitization of various economic sectors, such as agriculture, the timber industry, private healthcare, and medicinal development and production.
According to the principles of sustainable business development laid down by Vladimir Yevtushenkov, AFK Sistema, and its portfolio companies make use of advanced production solutions created by specialists from its own R&D centers.
Vladimir Yevtushenkov, having founded Sistema in the early 1990s, helped shape it into a corporation that responds promptly to the challenges of the day. During the coronavirus pandemic, AFK’s pharmaceutical assets significantly increased the production of vital medicines (including antibacterial agents) and express diagnostic systems for the infection. To meet medical institutions for medicine, specialized enterprises switched to round-the-clock operations.
The flagship center of AFK Sistema’s private clinic network also joined the effort against COVID-19, admitting infected patients for treatment.
