Exploring West Ham’s Top Players Past and Present

West Ham United has a rich history having been founded in 1895 in its current form.

Their current Stadium is The London Stadium which was originally the Olympic stadium from the London 2012 Olympics having moved there from their beloved Boleyn ground in 2016.

Many important players have worn the famous claret and blues kit throughout the years and support with West Ham tickets has seen some incredible players over the years.

Here we look at some past and present players who have made significant contributions to the club:

Bobby Moore –

Arguably West Ham’s and England’s greatest-ever player Bobby Moore was a legendary defender who captained England to World Cup glory in 1966. He spent his entire club career at West Ham, making over 600 appearances for the club.

Booby is immortalized in bronze alongside his teammates Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters in a statue at the club’s London stadium celebrating their 1965 European Cup Winners Cup victory.

Geoff Hurst –

Another member of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team, Hurst was a prolific striker for West Ham in the 1960s. He scored over 200 goals for the club and is perhaps best known for his hat trick in the 1966 World Cup final with the famous phrase “they think it’s all over, it is now”

Trevor Brooking –

Brooking is one of West Ham’s most loyal servants, having spent his entire playing career at the club before moving into coaching and management roles. He was a skillful midfielder who was adored by West Ham fans.

A loyal servant to the claret and blues Trevor has stepped in to manage the club on a few occasions when the club has been in a tricky situation. Trevor is also known as one of the nicest guys in football.

Paolo Di Canio –

The Italian forward was a mercurial talent who could produce moments of magic on the pitch. He signed for the club in 1999 for £1.5 million and was a key player for West Ham in the late 1990s and early 2000s, helping the club reach the FA Cup final in 2006. West Ham fans all have great memories of his time with the club.

Mark Noble –

Noble is a West Ham academy graduate who has spent his entire career at the club. He has been a loyal servant and a consistent performer in midfield, captaining the team for several seasons.

Making 550 total appearances for the club with 414 of those being in the Premier League scoring 62 goals. In January 2023 Mark took up a Sporting Director role for the club he loves.

Dimitri Payet –

The French midfielder was a sensation during his time at West Ham, dazzling fans with his skill and creativity. He was named the club’s Player of the Year in his first season and helped them reach the FA Cup semi-finals in 2016.

Michail Antonio –

As mentioned earlier, Antonio is a versatile forward who has been a key player for West Ham in recent seasons. He has scored some important goals and is a fan favorite at the club having scored 9 goals this season. Michail will be instrumental in West Ham’s fight against relegation this season.

These are just a few examples of the many important players who have played for West Ham past and present.

Many supporters over the years have watched their favorite players at the Boleyn ground and now the London Stadium. Whilst the passion and excitement have always been there the stadium facilities have evolved.

A home game watching West Ham is one of the events in London and a VIP matchday experience can be a great gift or special occasion or even a corporate day out.

Various hospitality packages can be arranged including private lounges, upgraded seating, and food and drink making the day one that you will never forget even a visit from a current player or Hammers legend are all options available.
