5 Reasons Your Video Isn’t Popular With Viewers

Video marketing is the in-thing right now, and if your business hasn’t got a video marketing strategy in place, you are missing out on a ton of potential viewers and a huge new potential audience. Most video marketers know that videos have become an essential marketing tool. You can use videos to tell your story or promote your products and services.

There are, however, a few common mistakes that many video marketers are making that result in their creations being unpopular with viewers.

Your Video Has No Captions

Businesses tend to disregard the importance of captions when it comes to their videos. Ignoring captions is a huge mistake because many of your viewers may be hard-of-hearing or, if your videos are aimed at social media platforms, they may not want to put sound on just to listen to your video voice-over. Captions are relatively easy to add to most videos, especially if you are using automated transcription software to create the captions, which can speed up production and drive down costs.

Your Videos Aren’t Original To Your Brand

If you are using your videos to promote a particular product or service, it is important that the video be original. Simply using stock footage from other videos and then overlaying your own voice-over doesn’t give viewers the impression that you know what you are talking about.

Stock footage is fine if it is relevant to what you are promoting, but unless it has some kind of connection to your product or service, it’s best avoided as your viewers will feel cheated.

Not Considering the Wider Marketing Plan

If you are using video marketing to promote a particular product or service, it is important that the video be relevant to what you are promoting. Simply using stock footage from other videos and then overlaying your own voice-over doesn’t give viewers the impression that you know what you are talking about.

Lack of interactivity

By far, the biggest turn-off for viewers is a boring video. Viewers don’t want to listen to a video that is self-indulgent and has no substance. Viewers want videos that show them how to use your product or service and what it can do for them.

When you create videos, think about the viewer first and foremost, not just your product or service. You should also make sure that the viewer knows how to find out more information about your products and services once the video is completed. If you don’t link your videos with other content on your website, viewers will be left wondering where they can find out more about the topics covered in the video.

Poorly Produced Videos

Poor production values and low-quality filming can make a video unappealing to viewers. As a rule, if you wouldn’t want to watch the video yourself, then why would you expect anyone else to. If you have no experience, it could be an idea to talk to a professional video production company.
