Some Men’s Health Issues that Must Never Be Ignored

Talking about men’s health is never easy, and the reason this is so is because our society tends to elevate men to an extraterrestrial plane. They are expected to behave and function like beings who can never be harmed or fall sick. As a result, most men fail to find the right words to articulate their dysfunctions and health issues. This leads to difficulties and challenges in the diagnoses of underlying health issues and, therefore, increases the mortality rate in men. No matter how much we would want to dismiss the idea, men’s health is a topic that does not gain much traction. Hence, this is what leads to widespread ignorance about some of the most common men’s health problems.

To add to the woes, some of these health issues are asymptomatic, which makes diagnoses of the same even more cumbersome. Now, there are several health supplements that men might take for good health under medical supervision, about which you can find more info here. However, awareness of health conditions is still important. That said, to make it a little easier for men to identify any underlying health issues and reach out to health professionals for treatment of the same, we have gathered a few common men’s health conditions that must never be ignored. An awareness of these conditions can help in the early detection of the diseases and make the treatment of the same easier and more accessible.

A Range of Cardiovascular Diseases:

Cardiovascular diseases are more than just heart attacks. They are a range of conditions that involve the heart, arteries, blood vessels and veins. Any impediment in the blood flow can cause severe damages to your heart and brain and result in heart attacks and strokes. Some of the most common conditions of cardiovascular diseases are congenital heart disease, cerebrovascular heart diseases, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism.

Heart diseases are the leading causes of deaths worldwide and more so in men, and this is because most men fail to spot the first signs of the diseases. Symptoms like snoring, abnormal bleeding of gums and skin, fatigue and slight heaviness in the chest can be indicative of underlying heart conditions. However, most men tend to ignore these signs, and as a result, the disease progresses silently.

It is crucial that men learn to spot these first signs of heart conditions and talk to their doctors immediately. Some other common symptoms of heart conditions include sweating, shortness of breath and inflammation at several places. An early sign of an imminent heart attack is shooting pain in the left hand, mild to severe discomfort in the chest that lasts for a few hours, blurry vision and lack of coordination. It is vital that men spot these signs immediately and take the necessary steps to prevent a massive cardiac arrest.

Prostate Cancer:

Prostate Cancer is yet another extremely common but ignored men’s health issue. Most men are not even aware of their bodies well enough to understand the seriousness of this issue. The prostate is a gland located under the bladder and is a part of the male reproductive system. Abnormal growth or mutation in the cells in this gland is what causes Prostate Cancer. More often than not, there might be no symptoms at all. It is only in the advanced stages that men understand that something is wrong with their bodies, but it already becomes too late until then. The only way to prevent Prostate Cancer or, rather, detect the disease in its very early stages is awareness and opting for regular checkups.

However, a weather eye on the ways your body behaves can help you spot certain telltale signs of the disease. Some of these symptoms include frequent urination, difficulties in urinating, painful se×ual intercourse and passing blood in urine or semen. If the cancer is already in its advanced stages, symptoms like pain in the pelvic area and inconsistencies in urination could be more common symptoms.

Erectile Dysfunction:

The last disease, or what we might want to call dysfunction in this article, is Erectile Dysfunction or ED. Problems with erections are more common than you might think. Most men find it difficult to have an erection at least once in their lives. However, this only becomes a point of concern when the occurrence is recurrent. A failure in achieving an erection once a while does not account for dysfunction. However, if the condition persists, it is imperative that you see a doctor. There could be multiple reasons for erectile dysfunction. For instance, a fall in the levels of testosterone or usage of certain drugs could result in ED.

Various nerve and blood vessel disorders can cause Erectile Dysfunction. Issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, and habits like excessive smoking could also impede blood flow to the organ, hence causing the dysfunction. Erectile Dysfunction is a treatable and curable condition. However, men need to break the stigma and reach out to their doctors for the same. The patriarchal society makes it difficult for men to speak about their se×ual dysfunctions, and this is the main reason for such issues to go undetected and undiagnosed. Therefore, the only way to treat and cure conditions like ED is to break the stigma and reach out to medical health professionals on time.

Wrapping Up:

These are the three most common health issues that most men face in their lives. All these aforementioned issues are ignored and not paid much attention to, and much of it has got to do with the stigma that is related to some of these health issues. There are several more men’s health conditions that we generally tend to ignore. Therefore, if you want to learn more about them, consider doing some research and talk to health experts so that you can take a step in the right direction when it comes to treatment and medication.
