Industries In Demand of Great Photography Content

To help find your niche within the photography industry, it is useful to know which types of content and images are in demand. Particularly those which are regularly downloaded across photo sharing sites, like Clickasnap. Those who choose to specialise in areas of photography which are in high demand are likely to see an increase in clients, downloads, and sales. Making these areas of photography highly profitable for a pro to focus on.

Fashion photography

Fashion photography is dedicated to the display of clothing and accessories. Usually worn by a model, these shots can be enhanced using props and with the choice of a variety of locations. With fashion being such a huge industry, making billions every year, the demand for high-quality fashion photography is high. Particularly as this is one of the key marketing tools used by designers and retailers.

With four categories of fashion photography, there is plenty to explore and experiment with. Choosing to specialise in fashion photography could open doors for working with big clients such as fashion designers and retailers or print and media outlets such as fashion bloggers and magazines.

The four categories of fashion photography are:

  • Catalogue Photography
  • High Fashion
  • Street Fashion
  • Editorial Fashion

Developing a career in fashion photography may take time, particularly as these clients are demanding and it is often difficult to get your name known in the industry. Fortunately, taking on this challenge could be the beginning of a very successful and exciting career.

Travel Photography

Travel photography has grown massively in the past decade, with travel bloggers and freelancers helping to grow the industry across social media. The demand for high quality travel photography comes from a range of clients within the industry. Both from your typical, traditional clients, such as travel media outlets, airlines, hotels etc. and from modern outlets such as travel blogs and Instagram pages. Freelance travel photographers could utilise their skills, working on specific client projects or creating content to be downloaded as stock photography on online photo sharing sites.

Corporate Photography

This may not seem like an obvious style of photography. However, corporate photography is in huge demand. Typically, from marketers, looking for high-quality images to download which they can include in a social media post or ad, or to upload to company websites. Alternatively, a company may actually want to hire a freelancer to visit their offices to create corporate photography in real-time of their staff, for professional headshots or images of their office environment and working spaces. There are variety of ways to sell your corporate photography services. Networking online and reaching out to companies on sites like LinkedIn, is one great way to market yourself as a corporate photographer.

Real Estate Photography

Every real estate agent knows the value of good quality real estate photography. Which they then use to aid in the marketing and sale of their residential and commercial property. Therefore, specialising in this area of photography could be a great way to make photography skills profitable. Networking with estate agents and offering photography services for a fee would be a good place to start.

Product Photography

Many retailers and e-commerce companies require up-to-date product photography. This can be a regular demand, sometimes even weekly. Somebody who can specialise in this style of photography is valuable to these types of clients, who usually ask for a wide range of shots of their products ready to be published to their sites. Product photography is vital to an e-commerce or retailers’ marketing efforts, so they will always be on the look out for freelancers willing to offer a reasonable price for their photography services.
