IBPS PO Exam

The IBS PO exam is one of the most lucrative opportunities to contribute to the banking sector in India. However, with the number of aspirants increasing rampantly every year, the competition has become tougher. With the increased competition and limited seats, only serious aspirants can crack this exam. With a proper strategy, approach and study plan, you too can successfully clear this exam. The Prelims for the IBPS PO Exams will be conducted in October 2021. With approximately 1 month left for the exam, many aspirants are stressed about their selection chances. The best strategy for the last month of the preparation is to give as many IBPS PO free mock test as you can. But, before giving mock tests, follow the tips listed below to prepare for the IBPS PO exam in 1 month-

Table of Contents

  • 1. Know the Syllabus and List out the Easy & Difficult Topics
  • 2. Create a Timetable & Implement it sincerely
  • 3. Focus on Conceptual Understanding, Avoid Rote Learning
  • 4. Practice timed Mock Tests
  • 5. Clear all Doubts as soon as possible
  • 6. Revise each topic Multiple Times
  • 7. Strike a balance between Speed & Accuracy in the Exam
  • 8. Give you Best & Don’t Panic

1. Know the Syllabus and List out the Easy & Difficult Topics

The IBPS PO examination’s selection process involves 3 phases- Prelims, Mains and the Interview. The marks segregation is as follows- 100 marks for Prelims, Mains carries 200 marks, the Descriptive Test is of 25 marks and the Interview is of 100 marks.

Get a printout of the syllabus and learn it by heart to know which topics need to be covered. Don’t waste the last 1 month by preparing the topics that are outside the syllabus. Simplify your syllabus by dividing it into topics that you know well, the topics that you need to strengthen and the topics that you don’t know at all. By doing this, you will obtain better clarity about which portions to focus more on.

2. Create a Timetable & Implement it sincerely

Instead of blindly trying to emulate the toppers’ strategy, make a unique timetable based on your requirements, strengths and weaknesses. Since you only have 1 month to prepare as well as revise, first, complete the most important topics as soon as possible. Schedule regular revision sessions. Set deadlines for every subject. Track your progress by maintaining a checklist. If you implement this, you will be able to cover the maximum syllabus in less time.

3. Focus on Conceptual Understanding, Avoid Rote Learning

A rote learner will never be able to secure a rank in the IBPS PO exam. Many questions in the IBPS PO exam are application-based to test your conceptual understanding. Take help of online study materials and tutorial videos from credible sources to understand the basics well. Once you develop a crystal-clear understanding of a topic, you will be able to recall it and perform well in the exam. Thus, the habit of studying with conceptual understanding will help you ace the IBPS PO exam.

4. Practice timed Mock Tests

Giving timed mock tests will help you to manage time well on the day of the exam. Along with revising the syllabus, practice at least 2 mock tests daily. Initially, you will exceed the time limit, but with practice, you will improve your speed and accuracy while attempting the questions. After attempting the mock test, analyse your mistakes and work on them. Solve previous year questions as well to understand the kind of questions that usually appear in the exam. It will take your preparation to the next level and will increase your chances of selection.

5. Clear all Doubts as soon as possible

Don’t leave unclear doubts for the last day. Get your doubts cleared as soon as possible to progress more quickly in your preparation process. You can approach a teacher to clear doubts or you can take the help of online credible sources too. By clearly doubts quickly you will be able to grasp more concepts easily. It will help you build a strong foundation to successfully crack the IBPS PO exam.

6. Revise each topic Multiple Times

The more times you revise the syllabus, the better your stronghold will be on all topics. This will enormously help you in having an edge over those candidates who have revised a few times or not revised. Consistent and multiple revisions throughout the year will build your confidence. So, instead of studying from 10 sources and revising them only once, limit your sources as much as possible and revise them 10 times. If you follow this revision strategy, success is all yours in the IBPS PO exam.

7. Strike a balance between Speed & Accuracy in the Exam

In the IBPS PO exam, you need to solve more questions in less time. But, due to the negative marking scheme, guesswork must be avoided as much as possible. Don’t spend more than 45 seconds per question in Prelims and Mains MCQ questions.

It is extremely important to work on striking a balance between your speed and accuracy while attempting the exam. Observe the pattern of your inaccuracies and mistakes while solving mock tests. On the day of the exam, first, attempt all those questions that you find easy. Then, move on to the doubtful questions. This strategy will help you solve more questions correctly in less time.

8. Give you Best & Don’t Panic

Be sincere and implement your study plans diligently. Knowing is not enough. Only through consistent efforts will you be able to crack the IBPS PO exam. Divert your mind from dwelling on the negative possibilities. Take care of your health, take adequate sleep before the exam and keep yourself well hydrated. Several deserving candidates are not able to perform well because they overlook their health in the last days of preparation. So, looking after your physical and mental health is as important as preparing well for the exam.

In conclusion, the IBPS PO exam can be cracked by you in 1 month if you implement the tips given above. There are no shortcuts or quick methods to ace this exam. All it takes to crack this exam is consistent hard work throughout the year. The key elements to focus more upon during the process of preparation are- conceptual clarity, practice and time management. Follow these steps to clear the IBPS PO exam. All the best!
