How to Set Up Your Own Website?

A website is still a strong point of contact between a brand and a customer. There is a reason why we call it a digital showcase available 24 hours a day. Having your own website allows you to be in constant contact with the client and provides a virtual portfolio. If you are starting your own business and you’re wondering how to set up a website, here’s a list of things you should take into account.

How hard can it get?

Many people entrust the implementation of their website to professionals. Unfortunately, the prices of such services are usually quite high, and not everyone can afford such an expense. Creating a website on your own is much cheaper because it only involves the cost of purchasing a domain and hosting – the fee varies depending on the service provider. Designing a website yourself saves money. All you need to invest in is time and a bit of study.

If you want your website to be visually appealing and perform well, it’s best to choose the WordPress tool which gives you loads of possibilities. Then, you can also invest in WordPress SEO services to make your site visible in the Google search results. It’s not all that difficult as it may sound!

Choosing hosting and domain

1. A domain is simply the name of your website. No two pages have the same www address. When choosing a domain, remember that the name should be:

  • easily remembered
  • relatively short
  • ending in .pl, .uk, or .com depending on a country
  • not confusing
  • created with an important keyword

It is also worth considering that, if possible, the name should contain a keyword (that is, a phrase after entering which we would like to be displayed in the search engine). Choosing the most popular ending like .com will also make it easier for your visitors to find your site after they remembered its name.

2. Hosting is where your website files will be located. Without it, your website will not be able to be displayed on the web. When choosing the right hosting, it is worth considering:

  • speed of action
  • server capacity
  • reliability
  • reliable service
  • proportionate price

It is worth investing in good hosting to make sure that visitors will have no problems displaying it. Free hosting plans are often flawed and do not meet these requirements. If you’re not starting out with a huge website, 3 GB is enough in 99% of the cases. It is good if the server has NVME SSD disks that are able to process data faster. If your website will be created based on the WordPress system, it is worth using a hosting dedicated to this platform, which will ensure the greatest comfort of use.

Your website’s looks

There are plenty of motives on the market, and it’s a benefit. Namely, if we need a highly specialized and specific theme, it most likely exists. On the other hand, some of the themes are not well done, e.g. they are overloaded with unnecessary code that will slow down your website, so there is a risk that you will make the wrong choice.

Remember that sometimes it’s worth investing in a paid theme that can protect your pocket from future expenses. This way, you often get technical support from the developers of the theme, at least for a while. In addition, there is a high probability that the paid theme will simply be better done.

Later in time, you will want to speed up your website even more. WordPress is very flexible in this regard. You can do it yourself – quickly and easily – with the help of image optimization and database optimization.

So, get to work!
