Fun Things to Do in Whistler for Non-Skiers

It’s rare to hear the name “Whistler” without the phrase “skiing” in the same breath.

If you’re into skiing, there’s no doubt Whistler is one of your top vacation spots. For those who are less athletically inclined—myself included—this quaint little ski resort town may not seem like an ideal destination. Well, you might be surprised.

Not only is Whistler one of the best locations on the planet for winter sports, but it’s also one of the best spots for those who love exploring the cute, small towns of Canada.

If you’re a non-skier looking for homes for sale in Whistler and haven’t yet figured out how you’re going to spend your time, here are some fun things you can do around town.

Whistler Day Spa

The best part of living in a resort town means you have front-row access to the best parts of vacation—except, all year long. One of my personal favorite vacation luxuries is heading to the spa for a day of rest and relaxation.

The Whistler Day Spa is the perfect place to escape the cold weather for a bit, featuring a hot tub, sauna, and a variety of services like facials and massages. After a long day at work, this is the perfect place to unwind or enjoy a couples massage on the weekend with your partner.

Golfing

What sort of sports do Whistler natives enjoy when the snow has all melted? Aside from hiking the gorgeous mountains of Whistler, many locals and tourists alike enjoy the many stunning golf courses in the area.

There are so many courses to choose from, including the Whistler Golf Club, designed by Arnold Palmer. The Nicklaus North Golf Course is also a great choice.

Peak 2 Peak

The Peak 2 Peak gondola ride may seem like a thrill-seeking activity, being that it takes passengers on a ride over 400 meters into the air between the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains. Unless you’re deathly afraid of heights, it’s actually a really fun, relaxing ride that gives you the best view of Whistler.

You may not want to hit the slopes yourself, but man, they sure look gorgeous from way up high.

Dog Sled Tours

You may not be interested in skiing, but what about sledding? If the physical activity of skiing is what turns you off, seeing Whistler via a dog sled is one unique way to enjoy the scenery without breaking a sweat.

A team of racing dogs will take you on a journey through the powdery white snow as you stay nice and bundled up in your sled. If it’s the cold that turns you off from skiing, then maybe just stick to the sauna, but it’s certainly worth braving the harsh winter for an experience like this.

Audain Art Museum

If the arts are more your speed than the athletic adventures Whistler offers, the Audain Art Museum is the perfect spot to spend an afternoon. Even though it was established in 2016, the museum boasts an incredible permanent collection, as well as a variety of special exhibitions, so you’ll never run out of art to enjoy.
