Can Smartphones Replace Computers in The Future?

When computers first came out they were these huge bulky machines that ran at super slow speeds with barely any kind of memory.

Nowadays we have sleek laptops and computers which are faster, smaller, and more portable. Since smartphones have become more advanced, many people have started relying on their phones rather than having to carry laptops or have a desktop setup.

Modern smartphones are far more advanced than they once were and even more advanced than some computers once were and they keep getting better and better. We have already started seeing, for example, tablet/laptop hybrids and since technology is advancing at such a fast rate people have started asking if smartphones eventually replace computers altogether.

Why do some people prefer Smartphones over Computers?

There are several reasons why people nowadays prefer having and carrying a smartphone over a laptop or computer. One of the main reasons is convenience since it is much simpler and easier to carry around a smartphone than a laptop. Especially now that you can pretty much do almost everything on your smartphone the same as you can do on a computer.

With many companies like Microsoft and Google making smartphone apps for their computer counterparts, there is little need to have a computer. And on top of that, smartphones can be much cheaper than computers.

Another reason why smartphones are so popular nowadays is that they are really advanced nowadays. The first smartphones were very limited in what you could do with them but today smartphones have become so fast and powerful that you start to wonder how they pull it off in such a small device. Smartphones nowadays have 1TB storage as opposed to the old 16GB for example.

Many laptops do not have the kind of storage that the top smartphones have and with screens increasing in quality it isn’t surprising that so many people prefer smartphones.

Gaming

Back in the day, most people used their PlayStations and Xbox for gaming and some used their PCs, but PCs weren’t nearly as powerful as they are now.  When mobile games first came out they were mostly arcade-style games where there wasn’t really that much you could do in the game.

Still to this day, these minigames have remained popular but many of the big games that you see on consoles and PCs have started making mobile versions.

Games like Fortnite, Call of Duty, Apex Legends, and PUBG all have mobile versions and many of them receive exclusive content that you cannot find in PC or console versions. For this reason, mobile gaming has become really popular in the past few years and with the addition that you can play it anywhere and anytime mobile gaming keeps on growing.

Some games even have special tournaments that are hosted where players can win large amounts of money.

When it comes to iGaming, many online casino players have started switching to mobile versions as well, as they can be much more convenient. There are advantages that come with both versions of online casinos.

For example on a computer, you have a bigger and more clear screen and you can navigate the casino better but with mobile versions, it is much more convenient as you can play anywhere from a device that fits into your pocket. If you want to compare the two for yourself, you can visit licensed casinos in New Zealand where you can find the right casino for you and then compare between a computer and a smartphone and see which suits you best.

Can Smartphones replace PCs and Laptops?

With more and more people preferring smartphones we shouldn’t be surprised if one-day smartphones manage to replace computers completely. It is still early to say for sure that smartphones are going to replace computers because we still have a few things that are better done on a computer than on smartphones.

Technology keeps advancing more and more, and maybe one-day smartphones become so advanced that computers won’t be able to compete. We just have to wait and see what kind of changes happen in the future.
